A Cake made with Butter, Free-range Eggs, Flour and Sugar, covered with Almond grains. The cake does not contain yeast.
In 1875 two nuns from Mantua, on a pilgrimage to Rome for the Jubilee, stayed at Antonio Mattei's house. As a token of gratitude for his hospitality they gave him the recipe for this cake, which is named after their Lombard city.
